Copper sulfate pentahydrate is a clear dark blue crystal or powder with a solubility of 316 g/l in water at 0℃. It is insoluble in ethanol and almost insoluble in most other organic solvents. It is emerald green in glycerol, slowly weathered in air, loses two molecules of crystal water (30℃) by heating, and becomes white hydrate (CuS04 · H20) at 110℃.
